Outre Evony Review

So I am currently 8 months post relaxer with that said Ive been hiding my hair and for that reason I was looking into curly half wigs that way blending my hair would be easier for me and eliminate any need for head. Luckily I ran across the half wig called evony by outre on YT. It looked great on all the girls ive seen with it so you know I just HAD to get it.

So let me tell yall for whatever reason at first I just didnt like this wig at all. I couldnt mimic the style that the model had. I couldnt fluff it out just quite right (I think the layering of this wig wasnt falling just right for me and my liking). This wig hated me and I hated it in return. Had I had another option I would of tossed this wig and forget it! However being the broke college student that I am that wasnt an option! I had to work with this wig and work with it was exactly what I did.

I prepped my hair for my curly styles like I do. I placed this wig on at an angle and then I moved the hair more to the right to create a bang that looked well with my face and voila, all of a sudden I started to fall in love with this wig. Lol I knew my love was true when I did my happy dance. I strategically placed a couple bobby pins in my hair to hold the style in place and the rest is history.

The bad:
This wig started to look old and worn very fast. I typically dont fall asleep in my wigs but I did fall asleep in this one. But even then Im not a wild in my sleep. I dont move. I noticed that this wig doesnt hold its spiral curly very long. If you fluff it out too much it will begin to look more like a wave that an spiral. As with all curly hair the curls began to interlock with one another which is also annoying.

Verdit, this gets a 3 out of 5 stars because they layering may or may not be great for everyone. Cute wig thats very vesatile when it comes to styling.

Would I purchase again? Yes because now I know how to taylor it to fit me and my face however it wouldnt be my first option.

Here are some pics.

Protective styling

After my set back I needed a way to protect my hair with as little manipulation as possible. I opt'd for a curly half wig that way I could easily blend my transitioning hair with my wig. Let me tell yall. I am IN LOVE. I love this wig.

Name: La Lesly
Company: Vannessa
Color: 1B

Ive been wearing this wig for about 3 weeks now. It's finally starting to get a little matted but its still holding up well. Out of the box you're given an extremely perfect curly sue looking wig and its not cute and very wiggy. But after some serious finger combing and letting the wig hang it started to look very cute.

This wig blends easily with my hair and it holds up to everyday wear granted I take it off at night.

Heres a few pics of me wearing this wig as of two days ago.
Verdict: I love la lesly and I would buy it again!

Extremely Matted Hair After a Sew-in

So as you all know, I had my sew-in reinstalled. But After a short month I was so ready to take it down and I detangled my hair and proceeded to wash. To my dismay my hair tangled horribly! This is my story. Sorry if it's a little long I was very distraught.

I LOVE to experiment and try new things with my nails. Although this isn't my first time trying the water marbling nail technique this is the first time that I can say I absolutely loveeeeeeeeeeeee the results! I used four colors to make this design. Bright pink, pale shimmer pink, orange and blue!  However, they are not perfect up close but from a far they are sooo cute and summer-y and gorgeous! I will definitely do this again!

Tips for Washing Your Hair While In a Sew In

Sunday is my wash day and as you know I currently have a sew in installed. Since I moisturize throughout the week I like to wash my scalp and make sure its clean.  Hair can't grow when you're scalp is dirty and dirt/oil and product buildup is clogging the hair follicle.

  • I dilute my shampoo with water that way it can easily get access to my scalp.
  • I dilute my conditioner with water that way it too can easily gain access to my scalp and rinse out with ease. (I only dilute my conditioner on wash days; on co-wash days I only let water touch my scalp and i only condition the length of my weave)
  • Separate my tracks so I can have better access to my braids & scalp
  • Scrub and massage my scalp to clean and provide stimulation (blood flow to hair follicle)
  • Don't apply shampoo to length of wave (UNLESS, there is a lot of product buildup)
  • Treat the weave like it's your own natural hair. ( The weave is human hair and human hair is prone to breakage, split ends, dryness, heat damage. So if I have used a lot of heat ill add a little protein and moisturize my weave that way it will last longer.)
  • Co-wash the length of my weave to keep it soft & lustrous.

FOTD: Everyday Neutral with a hint of emerald

Today I wanted to spruce up my usual everyday look. I decided to add a hint of emerald green to my waterline. Nothing drastic. Just enough for a subtle change. I really L-O-V-E-D the result. Here are some photo's in natural light of my look :)

FOTD: Pink & Purple Summer Look!

Summer is here and it's time to break out the bright colors! Here is a look I did using pink and purple eye shadow. It's super girly, super cute and perfect for spring/summer time.

How to moisturize your hair while in a sew in

Sew-in's are great protective styles. They are low manipulation and they hide your hair. Sew in's are great for length and thickness retention. Although sew-in's have a lot of benefits have you ever noticed how dry your hair seem's to be once you take it out? My hair used to always look and feel like a tumble weed until I began to moisturize my hair while in a sew-in. Almost instantly I began to notice a difference. I simply spray some braid moisturizer on my braids and scalp.  Check out the video to see how I do this!

Acne Acne GO AWAY Tips to stay breakout free

Acne, we have all had it. We all hate it and here are some tips to keep your breakouts at bay. Simple and easy tips that will make a world of a difference when it comes to your skin.

1. Wash you face twice daily to get rid of dirt and oil on your skin.
2. Wash your pillow cases once a week. Your pillow case harbors dead skin cells, drool and lots of other yucky stuff that can cause acne.
3. Disinfect your cellphone, it harbors dirt, oil and bacteria. its a dream come true for acne.
4. Wash your hair once a week. Styling products can clog your pores and cause acne. By washing your hair often you reduce the risk of styling products getting trapped in your pores.
5. Moisturize your skin, skin that has been moisturized wont have an over production of sebaceous secretion (oil).

Here's a before and after of what I looked like before I implemented these tips.

Hello.. can you hear me? How to listen to your hair

Listening to your hair is a skill not easily acquired, it can't be bought nor downloaded but once in your possession its value is beyond measure. I always seen Hair Veterans talking about listening to your hair and I was like WTH kinda mumbo jumbo are they talking about? It's the art of understanding how your hair acts to certain techniques and products that you use and do to it. Simple huh? it really is that simple! It's a trial and error process that take time but once mastered it really makes a difference in the health of your hair.

Things that really help you listen to your hair
1. Writing things down
2. Ask yourself the following questions
- What you did
- how much did you use
- how your hair felt before & after

It's really that simple! I promise! This technique really helped me to find some staples that I really love and wouldn't change for the world. It's also what helped me stay focused and strong on my hair journey. Just wanted to share this info with my hair lovies, this really helped me and I hope it can help someone else.

Much love & HHG
